Bears Honor Iron Mike Ditka
The Chicago Bears marched into Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta 3-2 and march they did. The Falcons (2-3) thought they would dominate the Bears; however, they didn't anticipate one factor, Caleb Williams. Williams came back from a two-week hamstring injury he sustained. Many criticized Williams for his injury, making statements that inferred that other quarterbacks get hurt a lot more, and far more seriously, yet played through the pain. Aaron Rogers stated that he thought Williams was a wimp. Rogers, as a Packer, played the Bears when he was sacked and broke off the tip of his Patella. He went to the locker room and ran back to the field to shut down the Bears. Williams returned to the field was triumphant. Williams would end up passing for 30 - 36 yards and 305 total yards as the Bears dominated the Falcons, leading the Bears to a 31-23 win. This game, despite its score, was a dominating win for Chicago. Williams proved that he was ready to come back and start winning again.
The Bears now 4-2 are looking for a lot more like a possible division contender, rather than the normal old Bears teams of the past. Atlanta is now 2-4. In the 4th quarter, Atlanta did start to make a comeback and made the score a lot closer than it really was. Thursday the Bears will play host to the New England Patriots, now also 4-2. If Williams can get his form fired up again, it could be a real shoot out. Luther Burden had 8 receptions for 95 yards.
Colston Loveland also contributed to the Bears’ win, having 6 receptions for 65 yards. This week's game should be good if William’s arm shows up again. With the recent passing of "Da Coach," Mike Ditka, maybe the Bears are on the path to making this year a memorable one, in his honor. Do the Bears have what it takes to take the Bears to the Playoffs, or will Caleb Williams get injured again, this time knocking him out for the rest of the Season, and having to rely on a backup Quarterback to take over the battle? Only time will tell and it's way too early to start making those kinds of predictions. Bears fans will have to cross our fingers and hope that they are on the path to something so much bigger than they could possibly comprehend. We would like to take the opportunity to send our deepest condolences to Diana Ditka and the entire Ditka family on the passing of a true Chicago icon. The Ditka's will always hold a special place in all Bears fans’ hearts. Bear on Chicago Bears! Let's do it for Ditka!
