Mayor John Laesch Honors 12 Aurora Residents Who Placed In The Top 15 In The Country At The Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games!Amateur Athletic Union AthletesAt Tuesday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Mayor John Laesch honored 12 Aurora residents who earned national recognition at the 2026 Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games, placing within the top 15 in a number of track and field events. The competition, which took place in Iowa from August 3 through August 8, featured athletes from both the Aurora Sundowners Track Club and the Aurora Flyers, who competed among 11,000 total track and field athletes from across the nation at the meet.

Community Blood DriveThere are still appointments available for the community blood drive on Monday, September 14! The event runs from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Village Hall. Blood that is collected will go to area hospitals to help those in need. To donate, please make an appointment online.

The City of Aurora, in partnership with RiverEdge Park and the City of Aurora’s Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board, is excited to announce the 13th annual Fiestas Patrias Festival, Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13 at the newly expanded RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway, in downtown Aurora. Bring your friends, blankets, bag chairs, and dancing boots, and get ready for two exciting nights at the park in celebration of Mexican Independence Day. Not only does Fiestas Patrias bring live music, mariachi, local food vendors, and internationally acclaimed bands like Banda Carnaval and La Maquinaria Norteña, the two-day event raises thousands of dollars in scholarship funds annually for Hispanic, college-bound Aurora residents. Gates open Saturday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m. Opening acts include Aurora’s own Ballet Folklorico at 4 p.m., Los Creyentes del Poder at 5 p.m., Grupo Furioso at 6:30 p.m., an onstage ceremony recognizing scholarship recipients at 7:45 p.m., and headliner Banda Carnaval at 8:30 p.m.

Boil Order UpdateThe recent water main break has been repaired and water pressure has been restored. The boil order remains in effect for the following areas: Bronk Estates, Bronk Farm, Eagle Chase, Enclave, Golden Meadow Estates, Kensington Club, King’s Crossing, Marybrook, Pheasant Chase, Prairie Creek, Quail Run, The Ponds, The Seasons, and Wilding Pointe.Water samples have been submitted to the laboratory and testing is underway. The testing verifies compliance with IEPA standards. This process typically takes 24 hours and the boil order will remain in effect until the laboratory testing is completed.We will share an update tomorrow through the Village’s social media channels and the Village website, plainfieldil.gov, once we hear from the laboratory.
