With the recent election of Alderman At-Large John Laesch as the 60th Mayor of Aurora, the City has officially opened the process to appoint a new Alderman-at-Large to fill the pending vacancy on the Aurora City Council.

In accordance with City ordinance, the Mayor has the authority to appoint an individual to serve the remainder of the unexpired four-year term through the next general municipal election, scheduled for April 2027.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a registered voter in the City of Aurora
• Have maintained residency within the City of Aurora for a minimum of one year

APPLICATION PROCESS
Interested residents who meet the eligibility requirements are invited to complete the official online application at www.aurora.il.us/AldermanAppointee.

• The application period will remain open through 12 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025
• Following the submission deadline, the Mayor’s Office will review all applications and conduct interviews with selected candidates.
